2019 Gretsch USA custom shop G6128

Never go into a Gretsch roadshow event.

You may not even like Gretsch guitars and I know I haven't enjoyed many of them before but this one was offered as a tempting centrepiece of their 2019 roadshow event.

This is a handmade Stephen Stern custom shop Gretsch in aged Ice Blue Metallic. Featuring 3, yes 3 Filtertron pickups with quite a confusing control arrangement. It is a semi hollowbody. It may look Les Paul like but it's a different beast entirely.

On the left as seen in the first gallery picture, we have from the top:

Neck and bridge selector - just like a standard 2 pickup Gibson

On/Off/On selection for the middle pickup

2/2 treble cut then 0/2 treble cut and lastly 1/2 treble cut switch going from left to right on the front face shot to the left.

I bought a Tru-arc Serpentune bridge to replace the Tune-o-matic as the design and functionality of the Bigsby design is never my favourite and I'm freakish about intonation and tuning. It's certainly better but maybe the Bigsby is just for looks and not function right?

It certainly can't compete with the genius of Fender's offset tremelo system.

The guitar sounds fantastic though and feels just like an old guitar.
