2015 Gibson custom shop 1968 re-issue
A 2015 re-issue of one of 2 models that Gibson released in 1968 to try to re-capture the market that had been created by Clapton, Green and Bloomfield.
Bizarrely, they chose the wrong ones to re-ssue!

This guitar was the first accurate re-issue of the 1968 Les Paul custom model, itself an odd choice of re-issue in the late 1960's.
Correct features were featured such as the 14 degree headstock angle as opposed to the normal 17 degrees, correct witch hat knobs and custom designed '68 humbuckers unique to this re-issue.
Also featured is an ebony fingerboard along with pearl inlays and a long neck tenon.
This one came in a VOS finish.
Previous attempts had been made to re-issue this model but hadn't got it right.
It has a beefy neck and weighs quite a bit but is oddly resonant and you can feel the body vibrate against you as you play.
The pickups are quite unusual. They have alnico 2 magnets and I don't believe they are potted. The separation between the sound of the neck and bridge pickup is wider than most Les Paul re-issues in that the neck pickup position is very fat and warm whereas the bridge has the bite of a Telecaster.
This tonal variation makes it a very versatile sound with both pickups combined.
I had the nut replaced on this from new as it hadn't been made correctly by Gibson.
